Life and healthcare Training, was initially founded in August 2010 by me Lynn Glasper. I spent the next few years freelancing all over the UK, working with small, medium and large care providers. More recently I spent almost 4 years providing exclusive training for a domiciliary care provider.
With all this experience and knowledge of what works and what doesn't it was time to set up a training centre.
I realised that cost is always a driving force. But I asked myself, at what cost to the customer is poor training? And ultimately at what cost to the providers?
I found that managers were spending more and more time dealing with concerns, complaints and safeguarding issues, due to staff being poorly trained.
Training is not about sitting in front of a computer and ticking boxes from multiple choice questions; It's about understanding the information and applying it practically and safely.
I have won awards for my training but more importantly, the people I have trained, have won awards and gone on to bigger things.
I have seen care staff work their way up the ladder and become managers. I have watched people who have worked in other sectors become fantastic health care assistants or support workers. I have witnessed people who have never had a job change their lives.
I believe if we are going to care for people, we need to care about the people we are sending to look after them, and it all starts with good training.
